BeamLight Foundation (BLF) visited Arowosegbe Primary School and Irepodun Primary School on 4th December 2024
The pupils were taught the basics of Sex Education with emphasis being laid on differentiation between the different parts of the body. The pupils were informed not to expose their private parts to others to see. They were told to set relationship boundary and never to allow anyone irrespective of whom they are to touch their private parts. The pupils were equally reminded to report any act of sexual abuse or sexual molestation. The need to collectively stop abuse of young children was equally emphasised.
Furthermore, the pupils were taught the following values among others: Love, Self-control, Honesty/Integrity, Patience, Responsibility, Critical thinking/Problem solving, Environmental stewardship (that is, keeping your environment clean and ensuring a friendly atmosphere), resilience et cetera. The pupils were informed that if they want to grow up to be truly responsible citizens, they must embrace these values and many more. The only way to achieve a better society is by embracing good values. The pupils were reminded that a good society is not built by mere wishing. The individuals (both young and old) must imbibe the right values in order to have a good society.
