We had an amazing time on Friday, 2nd September 2022 at BeamLight Foundation seminar for preteens and teens. The theme of the seminar, NOT TOO YOUNG TO TAKE THE LEAD was well captured in all the activities that took place.

The youngsters were encouraged by the guest speaker, Aunt Tobi Adebola to lead with their talents. Never to allow their environment or circumstances deter them from leading. From completing simple chores(like keeping their rooms clean) to taking up leadership roles in schools, they must always put in their best and strive to be better at whatever they do. The youngsters were equally given opportunity to state what they cannot stand about older leaders. Their responses include but not limited to: considering them as too little to take up some roles (that is, immature), older leaders not open to change, being inflexible, putting on an attitude of ‘I know it all’, giving too many rules, failing to listen to them. The youngsters were equally encouraged to imbibe the qualities of a good leader which include: creativity and flexibility, being responsible, self-motivated and a positive mindset, leading by examples etc cetera.

Furthermore, the visioneer, Joy Obehi-Ayemhere, equally emphasised the need for these youngsters to set good moral and academic pace. She admonished participants to stop following negative trends. Instead, they should set new trends for others to follow. She particularly stressed the need for participants to take their moral values seriously, paying attention to their character formation as this plays a vital role in sustainability (that is, to remain relevant even when you get to the zenith of your career, business et cetera, you need to have good moral values). Many stars and rising stars have fallen like pack of cards in the past as a result of poor moral values. In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. “Intelligence plus character that is the goal of true education”.

There were also presentations from two preteens (Praise Obehi-Ayemhere and Samuel Kpandei) on ‘Bullying’ and ‘Lying’. They both encouraged the participants to stop bullying and lying and to always speak to a trusted adult they know whenever they get bullied. The goal is to always speak up and never to become a bully yourself. There were equally great performances from other teens. In all, the seminar turn out so beautiful.

Thanks to all members, volunteers and supporters of BeamLight Foundation vision! Your commitment is unbeatable. May you enjoy exceptional favour from God! All thanks and glory to The Most High God for yet another successful seminar.
