The need to constantly engage our youngsters in productive communication and activities cannot be overemphasised. BeamLight Foundation is committed to ensuring preteens, teens and other young adults stay focused on their dreams and aspirations.
We (BeamLight Foundation) had yet another amazing session with the youngsters on Saturday, 15th April 2023. It was our coaching/mentoring weekend. The following topics were treated: LESS TALK, MORE WORK (What to do differently this school term); STUDYING IN UNCERTAIN TIMES and MAKING A DIFFERENCE. Participants were encouraged to set goals for each new school term and map out ways to achieving those goals. They were admonished to talk less and focus more on achieving their set goals for the academic year.
Participants were equally made to understand that studying in times of uncertainty could be very cumbersome. Nevertheless, they still can thrive in their academic pursuit by being open to learn new ways of doing things and being flexible. The need to have defined goals, creating a study plan, being agile (willingness to learn both offline and online) were some tips stated to make learning easier in times of uncertainty.
Furthermore, the youngsters were also informed that they aren’t too young to make a difference in their environment, school, place of worship et cetera. They were encouraged to deliberately do things that will have positive impact on others. As Light, they are to shine and dispel darkness around them. To make a difference, you need to dare to be different. Do not be afraid to stand for what is right even if it means standing alone. In the words of Dr. Seuss “Why fit in when you were born to stand out?”
Thanks to all members, volunteers and supporters of BeamLight Foundation vision! All thanks to God for a successful coaching/mentoring session.
