BeamLight Foundation held her April edition of the Coaching/Mentoring class for Preteens and Teens (ages: 8 – 19) on Saturday, 7th April 2018. The participants learnt the importance of budgeting as it is the most basic and effective tool for managing your money. A budget is a financial plan for a defined period of time usually a year. Participants learnt how to balance expenses with income. They were equally encouraged to cultivate good savings culture and master the art of making money work for them (investment) and not vice versa.
Also, participants were taught the essence of cultivating a healthy self-esteem. Understanding how they feel about themselves is instrumental to the level of success they will attain in their life pursuits. The teens were encouraged to deal a death blow to whatever may cause them to have low self-esteem. Thoughts like: “I am not good enough”; “I will mess up and then people will think I’m stupid.”; “I need to do everything perfectly”, should be jettisoned. Instead, participants were informed to replace these with the words “I can do it”. This serves as a booster to your self image. Participants were also encouraged to take good care of their bodies and do what terrifies them as these will also help improve their self-esteem. Developing confidence is also key to cultivating a healthy self-esteem. Participants were encouraged to “inhale confidence and exhale timidity”. Equally, they were reminded that they (Preteens & Teens) are God’s masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10) and as such should be conscious of the nature of God in them.
Thanks to Mr. Emmanuel Ogbuotobo who taught the subject of budgeting. Also, want to appreciate all members, volunteers and supporters of BeamLight Foundation. May God bless your commitment to BLF! Above all, thanks to God, Almighty for His faithfulness at all times.
