Jane and Jennifer are so inseparable. They do virtually everything together. In their school, they also lead the class. Always the highest scorers in any assessment. They are equally the favourites of most of the teachers in school. In fact their names dominate the subject of most discussions among their peers and even teachers in school. Interestingly, Jane and Jennifer are not even siblings; but friends who got connected together in school because they shared similar values. You sometimes wondered if they are even teenagers, why aren’t they distracted like most teens and other young persons? What is so unique about “this duo?”

Jane was born with a silver spoon and one may be led astray to believe she may be arrogant, self-conceited and generally indiscipline. Jane learnt early in childhood, that the building blocks of success in life is inclusive of the corner stone of Focus. Also, Jennifer, though from a humble background has also imbibed this focus strategy.  No wonder both of them connected like magnet. Jane was given a task in school by her school head to present a paper on “benefits of living a focused life”. Below is what she came up with:

Focus is a word we learn early in life. Though, at that time, the synonym “concentrate” was often used. While delivering a lecture in class, teachers often repeat a common refrain of “listen attentively”; in other words, “focus”. “To this end, what I am speaking on today is a subject we are all at home with,” she said. The benefits of living a focused life can be captured aptly in the symbolic figure of Jesus Christ who for the joy set before him endured the cross. I know this may sound a bit abstract to some of us, but however, we can relate with some focused personalities around us.

In the world of sport, we do admire some successful sport figures. Take for instance, Lawn Tennis, the Williams sisters (Serena and Venus) are models we admire. Their rise to fame was birthed through dedication and focus on the sport they love. Jane went further to elucidate that nothing sustainable in life can be achieved without tenacity and focus. The lack of focus keeps one wandering along the same vicious circle without any sustainable improvement.

However, a focused life makes you live a much happier life. Your learning ability also receives a boost. You also become more confident and certain that you will succeed. This is because, you understand with clarity what you want to do; and are willing to work on it to see it birthed alive. Closely connected to this, is the fact that you won’t get lost in the crowd. A focused being is not swayed by every wind of doctrine like a rolling stone.

What more is there to say? A focused being wins at all times. To everyone listening to me and everyone who would read this speech, I dare you to Stay Focused! Jane concluded on that note. As she climbs down the podium, everyone gave her a resounding applause for a well thought out speech. Her classmates and schoolmates made commitment to walk on the path of Focus.
